The Kress Slab Carrier System provides a modern method of performing all slab handling, transportation, and field storage functions between the slab caster or slabbing mill and the hot strip or plate mills.

 

The carriers are a flexible path transport system, and are extremely rapid, with round trip cycle times of five minutes and short haul distances up to 1 km.

 

Through the use of onboard high-lift hydraulic tongs, any slabs can be handled directly from any surface without need for pallets or cranes.

The tongs also allow the carrier operator to split and sort slab piles with ease which is of great benefit in field storage yards
